Originally from the small lake town of Hartebeesport, South Africa; Hannes grew up sailing Hobie Cats, fishing and waterskiing. Later, after several years in Mozambique with his family, his love of the water broadened to a love of the ocean, nature and wildlife.
Hannes knew he wanted to see more of the world. He left Africa and went on to explore Asia, South America, Europe, and various other parts of the world including the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas. It was during this time that Hannes fell in love with scuba diving, gaining vast underwater experience in some of the world's most exotic dive locations.
Hannes sailed the South Atlantic Yacht Race, Cape to Rio race and many other long distance races that took him all over the world. He has spent time delivering yachts across oceans and working on charter yachts. Hannes is a RYA Yacht Master Ocean Certified Captain and a Certified PADI Dive Instructor.
Amy grew up in the heart of England and has always had a passion for traveling. After attaining a degree in Travel and Tourism she spent several years in the Canary Islands looking after groups of guests as a Holiday Representative. Later her wanderlust took her to Antibes, France where she started her career in the yachting world. Since then she has worked on many high profile super yachts as stewardess/deckhand and as chef on smaller yachts.
Amy has a passion for cooking and baking. She loves trying new recipes and enjoys cooking internationally inspired cuisine. Her work and thirst for travel has given her the chance to spend time on her passions and hobbies. While in South Africa she completed her PADI Rescue Diver qualifications and also spent time sailing around the Cape attaining her RYA Day Skipper license, Power Boat level 2 and VHF licenses.
Hannes and Amy have a wealth of experience to share and they will make you feel right at home aboard Pentesilea II. They are professional and know how to have a good time!
