Captain Jerry has been sailing since he was 2 years old and has sailed extensively throughout the Northeast USA, and Caribbean and has undertaken several Trans-Atlantic crossings. He holds a 100 ton USCG Masters license and is also a NAUI Scuba Instructor and PADI Divemaster, as well as a US Sailing Instructor.
One of Jerry's great loves is teaching and as an avid water sports enthusiast he enjoys sharing all his varied knowledge with friends and guests. Jerry teaches lots of SCUBA courses from first time resort courses to full or advanced diving certifications.
After residing in the Caribbean Islands for 13 years, Jerry is a good source of local knowledge and history which ensures every trip is unique, fun and interesting. He is gregarious and loves meeting people.
Born and raised in San Diego, California, Chef Janet spent years sailing and racing sailboats, enjoying various watersports, camping, mountain biking, backpacking and traveling in Mexico.
Janet began her love of cooking at a young age, as both parents were excellent cooks. Her cooking style is healthy gourmet with ethnic flair; California style fresh, creative cuisine using local ingredients, while catering to guest preferences. Plenty of grilled seafood and a variety of salads, varying between traditional meals, Mediterranean, Asian and Mexican, with experience in vegetarian, vegan and extreme special needs diets.
She began her chef career in San Diego on Hornblower Dining Yachts, and in 1987 crossed the Pacific as chef on a custom motoryacht. She spent years cooking on private and charter yachts in the Caribbean and Australia, at private vacation ranches, small exclusive ski and kayaking lodges, and a research station on the Antarctic Peninsula.
Years of working and traveling in foreign lands including Southeast Asia, New Zealand and South America has broadened her horizons and gourmet ideas. A scuba diver and lover of islands, warm seas and different cultures, she has recently left a cold Rocky Mountain ski town and returned to the Caribbean.
Loretta (our stewardess) is originally from Connecticut and grew up vacationing on the water in Maine and coastal Connecticut. Before switching to a life at sea, she lived in New York's East Village and worked as a Project Manager in Chelsea. She had worked in the Legal profession for over 15 years as a researcher, business analyst, sales representative and IT professional.
When on break from her corporate life, Loretta managed two upscale restaurants in Greenwich, CT. She coordinated numerous wine tastings, cigar dinners, guest chef lunches and special events such as opening day for Greenwich Polo. She is an avid bartendress who loves to mix up fresh fruit smoothies and martinis. Loretta fell for sailing in Newport Rhode Island and after college began crewing in regattas and summer race series throughout the Northeast.
Before making the sea her home, she had chartered sailboats to explore the Greek Islands, delivered boats to Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and Maine and sailed extensively in and around New York City.
She traveled to New Zealand for America's Cup racing and assisted the main TV camera crew for the semi-finals. After leaving her IT Project Management career in 2004, she sailed from New York to Miami and then on through the Panama Canal, Costa Rica, Mexico, San Diego and San Francisco.
She has spent the last two years freelance working on Private Yachts and Private Islands in Florida, the Bahamas and New England. She has a love of wooden classic boats and has raced this year's Heineken and Antiqua sailing week. |
